Student teams from across Montana will compete in Urban Search and Rescue challenges as they prepare for the SkillsUSA State Conference in Great Falls (April 7-10). Last year, Alberton's middle school team brought home a Silver Medal at SkillsUSA Nationals in Atlanta, and this scrimmage was built to help more Montana kids get that same level of preparation and experience.
All are welcome. Come see what these students can do!

📚 Alberton Readers Are On a Roll!
Last Monday, March 2nd, two Alberton teams headed to the Missoula Public Library to compete in the Battle of the Books — and they showed up ready.
Our 3rd/4th grade team — Grace, TJ, Janus, and Ava — finished 9th out of 15 teams. Our 5th/6th grade team — Maddie, Owen, William, Benjamin, and Ida — finished 12th out of 22 teams. These kids have been putting in real work since October, giving up their lunch breaks every week to read, study, and practice together. That kind of dedication is worth celebrating, no matter the placement.
A huge thank you to coaches Katy Cannon (5/6 team), Josie Hayes-Johnson (grade 4), and Sandy Cooke (grade 3) for giving their time and enthusiasm to make this happen.
And speaking of readers on a mission — don't forget these upcoming deadlines:
📅 I Love to Read Month reading challenges are due Monday, March 16th.
🎢 Silverwood Read 2 Ride reading logs are due Monday, March 23rd — make sure a parent and teacher have both signed before you turn them in!
Keep reading, Panthers! 🐾

Are you a music educator who lights up when you see kids discover their love of music? Alberton School District is looking for a K–12 Music Teacher and this one is special.
This is a rare chance to build and shape a music program that's truly your own. From elementary general music to high school band, choir, guitar, music technology, and beyond, you'll have the creative freedom to design offerings that inspire students at every grade level. Our music room is fully equipped and ready for someone with passion, vision, and a genuine love of community. We're hoping you'll bring the music beyond the classroom too, through performances, concerts, and connections that make Alberton proud. The position may be part-time or full-time depending on your interest and our needs, so let's talk!
🌟 We're Also Hiring an Academic & Behavior Interventionist (Grades 6–12)! 🌟
Do you believe that every student can grow with the right support? We're seeking a dedicated Academic and Behavior Interventionist who thrives on meaningful, relationship-centered work. You'll provide targeted small-group and one-on-one instruction, partner with our Student Success Team on behavior support, and use real data to drive real results. Our district runs a strong MTSS framework with active PLCs and, through the MT Reads Grant, offers excellent literacy training and resources to support both students and staff.
Alberton is a close-knit, collaborative K–12 district nestled in the mountains of western Montana, just 30 minutes from Missoula. That means stunning rivers, forests, and big skies right outside your door, with city amenities close by. Our staff is dedicated, our community supports our school, and our students deserve amazing educators like you.
📧 Send your application, cover letter, resume, letters of recommendation, and transcripts to Superintendent Amanda Cyr at acyr@alberton.k12.mt.us

It is important that if your child is out sick, has an appointment, or a family obligation you are calling the front office to excuse them. Per our handbook this allows students time to get their missing assignments and make them up.
If no contact is made, the student will have 1 day to bring a note or the absence will be unexcused.
Also, per our handbook if the absence goes unexcused students will receive a zero for that day's assignment in each of their classes.
Our teachers are flexible and will work with students as long as absences are excused and communicated in advance when they can be.
Thank you for helping us support our students in being at school so they can shine academically

This past weekend, both of our Alberton Panther Varsity Basketball teams wrapped up their season at the 14C District Tournament in Polson. While the road to Divisionals didn't continue, what we witnessed out on that court was nothing short of Panther Pride at its finest — grit, determination, and sportsmanship that made our whole community proud.
🏀 To our Girls Team:
What a season. You had more wins this year than our last TWO seasons combined. Let that sink in! The growth we've seen from you, on and off the court, has been truly remarkable. People from other schools were talking about you, and here's what they had to say:
"These girls have a very bright future!"
"The growth we've seen from the beginning of this season has been incredible."
"These girls will be a force to be reckoned with in the years to come."
We couldn't agree more. 🙌
🏀 To our Boys Team:
What a ride! You've won more games this season than any Panther team has since the program came back four years ago, and that means something. To our three seniors: watching you lead, not just play, has been a gift. You've shown these younger guys what it truly means to be a Panther, and that legacy doesn't leave with you, it stays in this gym.
👏 To our Coaches: "Thank you" doesn't quite cover it, but know this — none of it happens without you. Thank you.
❤️ To our Fans: You showed up. Home and away. It takes a village to build something special, and you are part of this. Keep spreading the word — come see the heart and soul that fills the Panther Den. The best is still ahead.
Once a Panther, always a Panther. 🐾
THIS THURSDAY (2/19) is our I Love to Read Month Dress Up Day — come dressed as your favorite book character!

We're writing to inform you of a permanent change to our drop-off and pick-up procedures.
Starting immediately, buses will be using the street in front of the elementary school for both morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. This means parents will no longer be able to park in front of the elementary school building.
New Parent Drop-Off/Pick-Up Location: Parking Lot
We hope this change will make drop-off and pick-up easier for parents by consolidating everyone in the parking lot. To ensure safety and smooth traffic flow, we ask that you:
Respect the flow of traffic entering and exiting the parking lot
Park only in designated parking spots
Do not park in the middle of the lot or block traffic lanes
Alternative Parking Options:
Street parking directly in front of the high school
The opposite side of Railroad Avenue
We appreciate your cooperation as we implement this new procedure. If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
Thank you for helping us keep our students safe!
*This message has also been sent to Parent / Guardian emails, and a truncated message has been sent via SMS.

We want to give you a heads up about a temporary change to our afternoon pickup routine.
Due to construction work closing 4th Street, our buses will be parking on the street directly in front of the elementary school during dismissal time.
Please do not park in front of the elementary school during pickup so our buses have adequate space to load students safely.
We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we navigate this temporary change. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to contact the school office.
Thank you!
