Brovold Orchard

It’s pruning season at Brovold Community Orchard, and today we had some help! Mrs. Wekkin’s 1st and 2nd grade class from Alberton School came to help prune their two adopted apple trees, which they’ve named Bob and Stuart. The two mascot trees received a nice trimming, and the students returned to school tired and chilly but excited about their contributions to maintaining the orchard. Mrs. Wekkin plans to have her class follow the trees throughout their yearly cycle from winter through fall apple harvest. Their next visit will be in May when the trees are in full bloom. The students will keep journals on their periodic visits and how the trees are doing each time.
